![]() ![]() This technology is reasonably accurate, but requires the manufacturer to calibrate the data, and assumes that an installed battery will follow a certain discharge curve. These ICs are usually found on the devices motherboard, and track the cells capacity using “Compensated End-of-Discharge Voltage (CEDV)”, or “Impedance Track™” technology. For this reason, they are industry leaders when it comes to this technology.įor most device manufacturers, they use something called a “System Side” gas gauge IC. The ICS can also track battery discharge, usage, capacity, and degradation over time. Texas Instruments make some great products for Lithium batteries, including ICs that can charge, and monitor the health of a battery. Since the beginning, Apple took a slightly different, but very intelligent approach to battery monitoring. #COCONUTBATTERY EXPLAINED UPDATE#If you are left with questions, feel free to post them below, and we will try to update the article to cover missing information. There certainly isn’t a shortage of information. However if you are reading, be sure to make yourself a coffee, or bookmark it for a time you can read it in depth. It would be too hard to cover EVERYTHING on one page. This article should be considered incomplete, and will be subject to revision. To find out why, we need to go over some of the parts that make up the charging system, and how those parts interact with each other, and the operating system. A charging issue on an iPad, might have a similar cause to that of an iPhone, but the symptoms could be entirely different. ![]() There’s a lot to cover, and not every device works in exactly the same way. ![]() We are going to take an in depth look at how the charging system in an Apple device works, and how different conditions result in different behaviour. With that said, despite the abundance of information available, there is no real collaboration of information about some issues, and why they occur. In an ever growing industry, we are constantly learning. The biggest by far is lack of understanding. There’s a number of issues that plague microsoldering/motherboard repair technicians. ![]()
